Fans of BMW i8 is very happy to hear BMW is finalizing their BMW i8 SPyder tests they started since 2012. The vehicle is very close to production stage with it's new removable special rasin carbon roof. The vehicle caught recently doing some winter testing in the snow. This gave the opportunity to anlyze it's roof to see if it's going to look as good as the Coupe version. We’re happy to report that it does, as the i8 Spyder looks every bit as fantastic with its roof up as the Coupe model does. It’s wearing a fabric roof in these photos, which actually kind of takes away from the futuristic looks of the i8 but we’re not sure if that’s the final roof or just there for testing. It’s likely that it will be a folding hardtop, a la McLaren 650S Spyder. The rear deck also looks pretty cool in Spyder guise, as you can see where its rear side wings stop for the folding mechanism. Aside from that, it’s a pretty standard looking BMW i8.
BMW has been teasing fans with the open-topped i8 since 2012, and it looks like the wait is finally over. If the rumors are true, the i8 Spyder will debut at the 2017 Paris Motor Show right next to the upgraded i8 Coupé, featuring visual changes as well as a more powerful electric motor, a new suspension and wireless inductive charging.
